Darren Campbell pays a visit to Jack Hunt School

After undertaking extensions and a remodel, Jack Hunt School, Netherton concluded the 18 months of construction with the final handover on 07th September 2007. Students returned after the Summer holiday to a completed school, where they can make full use of all the new facilities available.

 

Following the remodel of Jack Hunt School the facilities newly available to the staff, students and community include dance/drama studios, music areas, assembly hall, sports hall, ICT suites and general teaching areas. External works have been completed providing a new face to the school, hard play areas and landscaping. Elsewhere refurbishment and extensions have been undertaken to provide the school with contemporary spacious facilities providing the ability to cater for the extra intake of pupiils. Refurbishment work included a new SEN area converted from the existing Library, a new Library, a refurbished dining area, and an updated admin area.

 

On September 25th 2007 Jack Hunt hosted their official open event. Special guest, Darren Campbell before officially opening the new build took part in student led tours of the new facilities and speeches. Following refreshments students took the opportunity to attend a question and answer session with Darren Campbell. Guests at the event included Chief Executive of the Council Gillian Beasley, Cllr John Peach, Cllr Geoff Ridgway, Mohammed Mehmet, Town Mayor Cllr Marion Todd,  MP Stewart Jackson,  Council Members, Bouygues UK and Ecovert FM. The occasion was a great success, enjoyed by all and even presented the opportunity for Mohammed Mehmet and Darren Campbell to get involved in a small penalty shoot out.
