On Friday 11th May, Bouygues UK held a ‘Topping Out Ceremony’ on the Voyager site. This was held to officially reveal the Voyager Tiling.
Among the guests were Stewart Jackson MP, Councillor John Peach, Mohammed Mehmet, Councillor Ridgway and Hugh Howe. Following a number of speeches the ‘Topping Out’ was performed by Cllr John Peach, revealing for the first time the Sea of blue with Voyager positioned subtly in the tiles. As the onlookers watched on, to mark the special occasion a cloud of balloons were released that filled the sky and drifted off into distance.
The weather stayed bright and dry for the guests, who, along with Bouygues UK staff enjoyed a BBQ and toasted this stepping stone event running up to the completion of the new Voyager school.
