On 19 December 2006 a site visit was held for a number of Peterborough City Council members. Led by the Leader of the Council, Cllr John Peach., Cllr David Vellam, Cllr Charles W Swift and Cllr Wayne Fitzgerald reviewed the ongoing works at the three schools in Peterborough Voyager, Jack Hunt and Ken Stimpson.
After meeting at Voyager site, they received a brief Health and Safety induction and were provided with Personal Protective Equipment, both being required prior to visiting construction sites.
Hakim Hadj Hamou, Bouygues UK Project Director, accompanied the councillors to the three sites. There they were met by the three site managers and were able to view the refurbished areas, the extensions and the new build areas.
Voyager School having completed concrete works is now well under way with Mechanical & Electrical works, partitioning and the structural works for street roofing and the entrance curtain walling.
Works are progressing well with recent successful handovers of the library area and sports hall at Jack Hunt which has allowed for the start of works in the new SEN area.
Also following handovers at Ken Stimpson School the newly refurbished fitness suite and dance studio, Bouygues UK site team has now started working on the refurbishment of the kitchen and the dining area.
Councillor John Peach, Leader of the Council stated, “I was very impressed by what I saw during the site visits. The schools will provide state-of-the-art facilities for our children and young people to learn and develop in the future. All of the sites were very neat and orderly and it was a pleasure to make the visit”.
